This is hopefully slipping into the background with Toledo City Council.  We are praying that is the case and this is a dead issue.

Even so, people can be encouraged to contact Toledo City Council members and ask that they stand against and vote no on any version of the proposed ‘patient safety’ ordinance.  The reasons to site when contacting President of Council, Matt Cherry and other council members is to impress on them that:

  • the ordinance referred to as “Impeding Access to Health Care” is unnecessary as current law safeguards one’s access under existing statute in sections 351.07(24) and 509.03 of Toledo Municipal Code.
  • this ordinance is a direct assault on my freedom of speech and freedom of assembly which is why over 20 local unions are against this ordinance.
  • There is virtually no documented evidence of any individual ever having their access blocked, obstructed or prevented from entering the abortion facility located at 1160 West Sylvania Ave per police reports.
  • The courts have repeatedly struck down buffer zone ordinances. This is a waste of Toledo’s limited financial resources.

More details, sample letters and contact info for each council member is available at www.gtrtl.org.
