The program ministers need assistance in identifying our own parish families that may need assistance from our program this Christmas Season.

World Mission Sunday, October 20/21, 2018 Today is World Mission Sunday. We celebrate this day by remembering the revitalizing mission at the heart of our Christian faith—to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today, for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, ensures the work and service of the Mission Church as it supports priests, religious, and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. All Souls’ Day Special Liturgy, Saturday, November 3, 2018, 4:30 p.m. All are invited to attend the All Souls’ Day Special Liturgy. This Mass honors all parishioners who have died, with a special remembrance of those parishioners who have died in the past year. Their names will be read and a candle will be lit in their memory.

Father Bacik to speak on “Bridging the Economic Divide” The Sylvania Franciscan Village is pleased to present a Father Jim Bacik Lecture on “Bridging the Economic Divide: Christian Perspectives” on Thursday, November 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Boulevard, in Sylvania. The latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that the wealthiest Americans have benefi tted more from the recent economic recovery than average working families. In this lecture, Father Bacik will explore relevant themes in Catholic social teaching, indicating that greater wealth equality will benefi t the whole country. Project Rachel Hope and Healing Weekend: Friday-Sunday, November 16-18, 2018 – Continue the Journey. This weekend retreat is for women who have already begun the journey of healing from abortion and seek a deeper and closer relationship with God. The retreat begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. and ends Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of The Pines Retreat Center, 1250 Tiffin Street, Fremont, OH. Space is limited. Registration Fee: $150.00 ($170.00 after November 10) includes 2 nights individual room, all meals/snacks, and retreat materials. $50.00 deposit (to be sent in with registration form) /$100.00 remaining due by November 10. Coat and Blanket Collection Please save your gently used blankets and child-size coats for the collection drive by the Knights of Columbus and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. We will be available to receive these items before and after every Mass the weekend of October 27th and 28th. Our collection truck will be in the church parking lot between the church and school. On World Mission Sunday, October 21, 2018, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas will celebrate the 10:00 a.m. Liturgy at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. Parishioners of the many cultures represented in our diocese are invited to participate in their native garb as a living sign of our support of the Mission efforts. On Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the 4:30 p.m. Mass, Saint Joseph Parish will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The Sacrament of Anointing is the proper sacrament for those people whose health is impaired by chronic illness, age or a weakened condition. It is also for those people who are about to undergo tests or surgery. The reception of the sacrament is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members who are ill. Pews and chairs will be reserved for those people who will be receiving the sacrament. When you arrive at church, please come to the front pews. If you are not able to come to church on your own, ask a family member, neighbor or friend to bring you. If you are unable to attend and would like to receive the sacrament at home, please call Laurie at the Parish Office, at 419-885-5791.

You’re invited to a free performance of the Cathedral Concert Series on Monday, October 29, 2018, 7:00 p.m., featuring Simon Johnson. Simon Johnson is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation, successfully combining life as a virtuoso organist with extensive work in choral direction and composition. As Organist and Assistant Director of Music at Saint Paul’s Cathedral, London, he has been involved in all the national occasions that have taken place there since 2008. Mr. Johnson has performed concerts throughout Europe and the United States, as well as many of the premier venues in the United Kingdom, including the Royal Festival Hall. Having established an international performing career, this American violinist has garnered accolades on four continents for his performances combining visceral virtuosity and ravishing tone. The series is held in the magnificent atmosphere of Rosary Cathedral for the enjoyment of audiences in Northwest Ohio. All in this series of concerts are free except the Toledo Symphony presentation of Handel’s Messiah.

Catholic Charities is hosting the ecumenical 40 Days for Life campaign in Northwest Ohio through Sunday, November 4. You can participate in three ways: prayer and fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigil.
