It’s easier to understand Scripture when we have a sense of what followed what… who was before or after this person, etc. This four-session series will trace the time line from the beginning of the Old Testament to the close of the New Testament. A 92-year-old, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably coiffed and shave perfectly applied, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

Joyce McCauley-Benner presents

“Slaves Among Us: Sex Trafficking in the U.S.” and also “Victory Over Violence,” her personal story. For the past 15-plus years, Joyce has worked as an advocate for vulnerable populations, including sex trafficking victims, domestic violence victims, and low-income families. While working with those populations, she was a case manager, researcher, and legal advocate. She is a frequent contributor to FFL’s magazine, The American Feminist, and has addressed poverty, violence, and exploitation during her presentations on campus, on Capitol Hill, and at international conferences.

Evening Prayer during Lent Vespers (Evening Prayer) will take place in Church on: Tuesday evenings, April 16, 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Lent is our season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, ancient practices dating back to the Israelites. Vespers is one of the prayers of The Liturgy of the Hours – the public prayer of the Church for praising God and sanctifying the day.

Kairos Prison Ministry Weekend #33

Kairos Prison ministry weekend #32 is behind us now, and 23 men have heard and seen the Love that our God has for them. Some of their lives were changed, and all of them have a lot more thinking to do about the role God plays in their lives. One resident from the weekend said that he read the Bible every day and went to church, but it wasn’t until Kairos that he had the Love of God shown to him! We planted the seed, and God will take it from here!

We are now looking forward to weekend #33 that will take place at the end of September. We are actively seeking volunteers that want to play a part in this life changing ministry as well as churches and congregations that we can share the ministry with in hopes of getting them to pray for and support the Kairos team and community. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 – The Light is On As has been our Lentecustom, the confessional lights will be on in parishes across the Diocese of Toledo, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, including our parish, Saint Joseph, Sylvania. Between the hours of 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on April 10th priests in local parishes will be present to hear Confessions, making the mercy and forgiveness of the Lord readily available to all.
