Wednesday, April 10, 2019 – The Light is On As has been our Lentecustom, the confessional lights will be on in parishes across the Diocese of Toledo, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, including our parish, Saint Joseph, Sylvania. Between the hours of 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on April 10th priests in local parishes will be present to hear Confessions, making the mercy and forgiveness of the Lord readily available to all.

Evening Prayer during Lent Vespers (Evening Prayer) will take place in Church on Tuesday evenings, April 9 and 16 – 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Lent is our season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, ancient practices dating back to the Israelites. Vespers is one of the prayers of The Liturgy of the Hours – the public prayer of the Church for praising God and sanctifying the day.

Friday Eucharistic Adoration During Lent Please sign up for Tuesday and Friday Adoration during Lent in the Holy Family Chapel. See website to sign up. We need many of you! 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday: Chr ism Mass in Rosary Cathedral at 11 a.m. Wednesday: Tenebrae in Rosary Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. At Our Parish: Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 p.m. with Adoration until Midnight. Good Friday: Stations of the Cross at Noon, Passion Liturgy at 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. Holy Saturday: Blessing of the Easter Food at 2:00 p.m.

“From Death (Row) into Life” Presented by the Saint Joseph Parish Knights of Columbus Council 5628 and the Franciscan Village Friday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Saint Joseph Church The evening begins with Stations of the Cross followed immediately by Father Neil Kookoothe and Joe D’Ambrosio. Father Kookoothe is a native Toledoan and a Catholic priest, lawyer, nurse and advocate for the social justice issues of wrongful conviction. With help from Father Kookoothe, Mr. D’Ambrosio was exonerated from Ohio’s death row in 2012 after spending 22 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. The two men will share their real life experiences with the fl aws of the criminal justice system. The talk will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. and there will be time for questions.

Scouting for Food  A scout is HELPFUL. The Pack 87 Cub Scouts are in search of nonperishable food items. Donation bins will be available in the narthex on April 6th-14th. Historic Saint Patrick Food Pantry is always in need of canned or boxed meals, tuna, noodles, rice, mac ‘n cheese and soup. Thank you for your support!

Little Carpenters”Saint Joseph Parish Play Group – Mark your calendars for our spring 2019 Session! This group is for kids 0-5 years old accompanied by a parent, guardian, grandparent or caregiver.  All parishioners and friends of Saint Joseph Parish are welcome!  There is no fee to participate. Men’s Morning of Spirituality – April 13, 2019 Men’s Morning of Spirituality (MMOS) is an annual event for men seeking to enrich their Catholic faith, with keynote speakers and local witness speakers sharing stories, traditions and dogma, related to theme topics. Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Thomas, Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Eucharistic Adoration are also a part of the day’s agenda, along with a continental breakfast. MMOS is free of charge and open to all men seeking a deeper relationship with Christ and a greater unity with other men seeking to grow their Catholic faith.
