Spiritual Fog by Minister: Thayer Salisbury
“Spiritually, we are all good at producing fogs.” – Oswald Chambers
Whatever one may think of Oswald Chambers, he certainly had a picturesque way of describing spiritual realities. Chambers lived much of his life in England, in an era when nearly everything was coal powered and the natural fogginess of the British climate was supplemented by human-produced smog. Chambers’ writings are nearly all aimed at those who claimed to be Christians, but who often clouded the spiritual realities rather than clarifying them. Undoubtedly, there are mysteries involved in the faith; there are scriptures that are difficult to understand. The Bible admits this (2 Peter 3:15-16). But much of it is quite clear. The fundamentals of the faith are simple enough for us to understand. His word is not too high for us (Dt 30:11-12; Rom 10:6-8). Much of the spiritual fog that exists for us exists because we have created it. Continue reading

God’s Provision for 2018
Well, it’s finally here, 2018 that is, a brand new year to experience life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the Lord Jesus Christ. A new year with expectations of goodness, and of course, the unknown paths which we will have to traverse as they come upon us. The best plans of ours are many times superseded by the circumstances of unforeseen events either in our lives or other people’s lives. Continue reading
Good Day Everyone! Welcome to another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Thanks for being my neighbor and making our neighborhood beautiful.
One person can make a difference. YOU can make a difference.
There’s the story of A Kid Named Kyle. Kyle was a nerdy kid who was bullied. One Friday he cleaned out his locker and took all of his books home. While walking home the bullies hit him and kicked him. He fell down, his glasses went flying landing in the wet grass. A fellow student came over and helped him pick everything up and walked home with him. They talked and his helper invited him to play football with some neighbor kids. They became friends. They remained friends all through school. Kyle was the valedictorian of their class. In his speech, he told the story of the day he and his friend met. He had cleaned out his locker and took all of his books with him that day because that weekend he was going to commit suicide. Because his friend helped him that day he didn’t do it. Continue reading
Be Postive…Be Grateful…Be Giving
For a richer, fuller life . . .
1 Be Positive
2 Be Grateful
3 Be Giving
1 Be Positive – happy, smiling, knowing everything will be OK – No Negativity – look for the positive, the good in everything and everyone.
2 Be Grateful – have an attitude of gratitude, count your blessings every day, know that you are blessed, be grateful for the people in your life, in your world, help others see their blessings. Say ‘thank you’ every day to everyone who does anything for you.
3 Be Giving – sharing, give to others your time, your talent, gifts, compliments, favors, whatever you have, sympathy, empathy, listening ear, shoulder to cry on, etc. Help everyone you can, in any way you can, as much as you can, for as long as you can.
Live this way for a richer, fuller and happier life. Try it. Those around you will be blessed. Oh, and so will you.Peace, Terry
Resolutions, Goals, Habits
Dear Fellow Disciples,
In January, many of us are going to be thinking about New Year’s resolutions. Some of us will even have some written goals.
In January, the gyms are full (for a month), the diet books are purchased, and everyone seems to be excited about change for the new year.
But does it work?
I do believe that well-crafted goals can and do work, as long as there is a good plan in place for reaching those goals. But I know something that works better than goals: habits.
I know habits work. And this is because, in my own life, I know that lasting transformation looks more like little daily changes than monumental aspirations. In other words, true change for me means a change in my everyday habits. Continue reading
