Ohioans Call on ProMedica to temporarily refrain from Transfer Agreement

Lent
This week, we begin the 40-day retreat we call Lent. I describe it this way because, in the early days of the Church, Lent was primarily the season of final preparation for the catechumens preparing to enter the Church at Easter. It is still this for our catechumens here at St. Joe. Please keep these special people in your prayers for these 40 days.
Lent begins early this year. Ash Wednesday can fall anywhere from February 8 to March 8, depending on the day of Easter, which as you all know fall on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Continue reading
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND………..

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pinto was still sputtering when he approached her.

Lenten Devotional Book
Lent is taking on a renewed meaning at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake and families around its historical church of 158 years. Through donations from the Women of Zion and community friends Zion has self-published a Lenten Devotional book FREE to the community compiled by Pastor Terry Rebert.
“Lent is a time to go deeper into reflection and meditation concerning what Christ has done for all who follow him,” states Pastor Rebert. “People who follow Christ do amazing things to reflect that love. In my ministry, I have collected some of these stories and put them into a Lenten booklet to give people a vision of what ‘picking up the cross and following Christ means to them.
The 40-page booklet includes devotional messages on topics like one girl who cut her long hair for “Locks of Love.” Another story speaks of Ma Shaw and how she mothered young Gordie Howe when he first came to Detroit. Day 23 reflections on Eric Clapton and how prayer guided him from addiction to recovery.
The Lenten Devotional booklet has 40 Moment Prayers and Bible readings for the days of Lent and a few selective pictures of art to spiritually ponder.
Copies of this booklet are FREE upon request and are available by email at tjrdet@aol.com or calling the church office at 734 856 2931. Zion Lutheran Church is located at 8307 Memorial Hwy and is three miles north of downtown Sylvania, Ohio.
Yours in Christ

A Rhythm of Prayer: Assess Where You Are.
Dear Fellow Disciples,
Do you have a set rhythm for daily prayer?
Ancient Christians called this a “rule” of prayer. A prayer rule gets at the specifics of prayer: Where will I pray every day? When? For how long? What resources will I use? Continue reading
