Moment Prayers for the Week of March 25th – March 31st, in the year of our Lord 2018

“Happy relationships depend not on finding the right person, but in being the right person.” Eric Butterworth.

The majority of us grow up believing the false information given to us by television, radio, film and the printed word that something or someone can rescue us from our mundane lives and turn us into all that we want to be. Even our parents give us the impression that the right person will make everything just fine. Young women dress up like fairy princesses in white lacy dresses on their wedding day, propagating this myth even further.
IT’S NATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY MONTH!
National Social Security Month is celebrated in April and is dedicated to educating you about Social Security programs and services. From programs that help support you through life’s journey, to services that help put you in control, to systems that help protect what’s important to you, Social Security is committed to helping secure today and tomorrow for you and your family.
During National Social Security Month, we encourage people to take control of their future with my Social Security at www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount. Create a my Social Security account to check your earnings history, confirm you have enough credits to retire, see an estimate of future benefits while still working, or manage your monthly benefits once you begin receiving them. The Salvation Army’s RISE program
Toledo, OH (March 28, 2018) – RISE (Recovering Individuals from Sexual Exploitation) is a Salvation Army program here in Toledo that works to improve the physical, emotional and spiritual life of those who have experienced human trafficking. This is accomplished through comprehensive case management, and a variety of weekly events including a support group, women’s AA meeting, Zumba and drop in hours. RISE was started in 2015 to help address gaps in services for trafficking victims. When asked what makes RISE different from other programs for human trafficking victims Marchon Noon, the program coordinator, said “Our case management system has grown and expanded based on what we are learning. We are able to adapt to the needs of the client and meet them where they are.” Continue reading

Want to make the world better but don’t know how?
Take a lesson from these amazing kids.
Anyone has the power to save the world.
“Dear fellow human beings, are we doing the best we can do, or can we do a little bit more to create a better world?”
This is a question we should all be asking ourselves every so often. It’s also part of a pledge written by 10 incredibly socially conscious individuals who all happen to be under the age of 18.
And they’re not just any ordinary group of kids. They were named the 2016 Hasbro Community Action Heroes, because of the exemplary volunteer work they’ve done for their local and/or global community.

Voiceless is a story about a recently discharged soldier who had a rough upbringing, but because of his wife, found God and now is totally devoted to his faith. He moves his family to Philadelphia takes a job as an outreach leader at an old church. Things are going well and he starts connecting with the community when he discovers there’s an abortion clinic directly across the street from the church. He tries to engage others to do something about the clinic but it comes down to a choice, is he going to back off or will he face a major confrontation which will require everyone to put everything on the line.
This film encourages people to stand up for what they know is right, particularly as it pertains to taking God’s truths into society to address social issues. Enjoy this well done pro-life story to reaffirm your beliefs and bring someone along that might be challenged by this message.
