The next Anointed session will be Saturday, January 5. We will be volunteering at the LaPosada Family Shelter. Please encourage your high school students to attend – helping others is a worthwhile experience. What is Anointed? ANOINTED is a Saint Joseph ministry geared towards students who have been confi rmed (SJS parishioner isn’t necessary). We plan on meeting 5 times per year, typically on the 5th Saturday of the month. We will meet from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., starting and fi nishing on the Saint Joseph campus. After gathering together and discussing social issues, we will go out into the community and serve others. After the service portion is done, we will regroup back at Saint Joseph to discuss our experience and pray for those we’ve served. Yours in Christ, Abbey Riley Continue reading
Sunday, 23rd The Knowledge. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
WHAT: Due to the overwhelming support of the community in Hope for the Holidays, The Salvation Army is happy to offer an added opportunity for those that may have missed the opportunity to secure toys for their children.
It’s beautiful because you’re my neighbor and your part of it. I got something in my email a few years ago that I saved, because it said so much to me, I may have shared it with you before, but I want to share it again with you. It’s perfect for this time, because it reveals to us just how easy it is to love, just how easy it is to be an individual savior in a world that’s begging to be saved, person by person, moment by moment. It’s another case where adults can learn from children.
Dear Fellow Disciples,
The Holiday Season is full of delightful stories of good winning over evil, Stories and books like……..A Christmas Carol; How The Grinch Stole Christmas; The Night Before Christmas and many others. In a new Advent book, “Sum: Forty Tales From The Afterlives,” David Eagleman imagines what might happen after we die and the chance to choose one’s next life. One person who desires simplicity chooses to come back as a horse! Why not? Grazing green pastures, frolicking over the hillsides, running across the plains with not a care in the world; and doing all of this as a big, literal stud. His decision is made, God speaks, and the transformation begins.
Sunday, 16th The Knowledge. “I am the Lords servant.” Luke 1:38
Christmas Worship Schedule
I think it is interesting that, at least in my lifetime and in this society, we celebrate a time for giving thanks before we move in to the season of giving gifts and sharing peace and joy and creating and witnessing miracles and magic. This seems so appropriate: to give thanks for the blessings and good in our life first. All of our prayers should be prayers of thanks for good always comes out of every situation and event. It may not be seen right away but good will come from it. Meister Eckhart said it long ago: “If the only prayer you ever said was ‘thank you’ that would be sufficient.”
