This Lent we will be journeying through the book of Nehemiah as we learn from him what it means to be a person of prayer.

We will be sharing Lent this year with the churches of Pemberville:

11 am: Worship at Bethlehem with preachers from the Pemberville churches

ChurchClipart40 Days for Life Campaign Began February 14: Catholic Charities is hosting the ecumenical 40 Days for Life campaign in Northwest Ohio through March 25. You can participate in three ways: prayer and fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigil. We invite you to pray for an hour in front of Capital Care Network, the Toledo abortion clinic, located at 1160 W. Sylvania Avenue. Sign up at www.40daysforlife. com/toledo. Since the international 40 Days for Life Campaign began in 2007, over 750,000 volunteers in over 40 nations have stood in prayerful witness at abortion clinics to witness to the dignity of human life. Through these prayerful campaigns, over 14,000 lives have been saved, 170 abortion workers have quit their positions, and 90 abortion facilities have shut down! church-newsletter-clipart-20Evening Prayer during Lent: Vespers (Evening Prayer) will take place in Church on: Thursday evenings, February 15, 22; March 1, 8, 15, 22 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Lent is our season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, ancient practices dating back to the Israelites. Vespers is one of the prayers of The Liturgy of the Hours – the public prayer of the Church for praising God and sanctifying the day. church-newsletter-clipart-20Are you interested in making a prayer shawl (knit, crochet, cross-hook, sewn, quilted, fleece fringed, etc.)? We have pattern sources for you. Basic sizes are 18- 25” wide by 60-75” long. Please feel free to contact Cheryl or Kathy at the church office (419-287-4182), if you have any questions. Prayer Shawls are used to comfort those in any kind of need and are available in our Mission Action Center. They can also be used for baptisms, weddings, milestone birthdays, etc. You also may request one just because… When taking a prayer shawl, please mark down the recipient’s name and your name as the giver. Completed prayer shawls may be dropped off at the office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., M-F, or Sunday morning. We do tag them so people know they are coming from the women of Bethlehem.

YOGA CLASS OPEN TO ALL on Mondays, 7 p.m., in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Cost is $5 per person. Continue reading »

St Joseph“Back to the Basics: 4 Cornerstones of Marriage ”A Valentine’s Dinner and Presentation on Saturday, February 10th. Guest Speaker: Peter Range – Director of Office for Life and Justice/Catholic Diocese of Toledo. With personal stories and practical examples, Peter will talk about love, life, sanctification and mission – and how these are keys to strengthening our marriages, as well as the marriage culture in our nation today.
For: All Couples Time: 6:00 p.m. check-in; 6:30 catered dinner. East Campus Family Center on Ravine Road
Cost: Freewill donations accepted to cover the costs of wine, dinner, and dessert. Registration is required by February 6th;
