Words of Faith

America on Its Knees

“If my people humble themselves and pray  and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.”   2 Chronicles 7:14

Pastor Rebert2 PicOn January 25, 1968, the United States Congress, by a Joint Resolution of the 100th Congress, declared the first Thursday of each May to be recognized as a National Day of Prayer. Hence on this national holy day it is a good, time to reflect on prayer.   One prayer which touches my soul was written by Mr. Hilton.
Conrad Hilton (1887-1979), the founder of the Hilton Hotel chain, being a man of conviction during the fight against communism in the Cold War published this prayer on full page ads in major magazines on July 4, 1952.

WORKING WHILE DISABLED – SOCIAL SECURITY CAN HELP By Erin Thompson Social Security Public Affairs Specialist in Toledo, OH

erin thompson Nov 2015While it may be best known for retirement, Social Security is also here to help you get back to work if you are disabled. For millions of people, work isn’t just a source of income, it’s a vital part of who they are — it gives them purpose and pride — it’s a connection to the community. If you’re getting Social Security disability benefits, we have good news for you. Social Security’s work incentives and Ticket to Work programs can help you if you’re interested in working. Special rules make it possible for people receiving Social Security disability benefits or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to work and still receive monthly payments. Continue reading »

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

Choices – Life is about choices

SONY DSCEvery day we make choices. In fact every hour, every minute, and even every second we make choices. The choices we make determine what kind of day we will have and even what kind of life we will have. So the choices we make are very important.

I believe we all want to have a good day, a day that goes smoothly without stress. We want a day filled with good times and good people. We look forward to days filled with joy and happiness.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Too good to be true? NO, it’s not too good to be true. It all depends on the choices we make. And, of course, the first choice we make is the most important choice. It’s the choice that determines what kind of morning, afternoon, day, week, even life we will have.

To have the kind of days and life described above we simply need to choose GRATITUDE. Choose to see all the blessings in your life. Choose to find the positive in every situation. Gratitude is the best attitude.

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. William Arthur Ward.

When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in. Kristin Armstrong.

I am so very grateful to all who read these messages. May you be blessed as you bless me.

Have a wonder-filled and grateful week.

Peace,
Terry
