Thank YOU for Your Time

Welcome to another beautiful day in the neighborhood. It’s beautiful because you’re my neighbor and you’re part of it.

On this Memorial Day it is good to not only remember those who died in service but all those who touched our lives. I remember hearing about my dad’s youngest brother. He was killed in WWII; I remember my mom & dad and my wife Barb and all they gave me and did for me. What will people remember about me? What will people remember about you?

Over the phone, his mother told him, “Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday.” Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

“Jack, did you hear me?”

“Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It’s been so long since I thought of him. I’m sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,” Jack said..

Encouraging Words For Trying Times

When things are going smoothly we sometimes forget about talking with God. After all, why do we need His help when we have all we need? Nice house, stylish cars, high paying jobs…life is good!

But when a crisis comes we call out for help and we’re not sure he hears us!

The Bible tells us that God does talk to us. He may not speak to us through the same clear voice that Moses and the patriarchs of the Old Testament heard. He may not speak to us through visions as he did with the Old Testament prophets.

Encouraging Words for Trying Times

We find ourselves asking ‘how long’ these days. “How long’ do I have to hold for customer service? ‘How long’ do I have to wait before I can enter the store? ‘How long’ will I have to home school my kids? ‘How long’ till life is back to normal?

Jeremiah the prophet asked ‘how long’ when the children of Israel suffered, “How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.” (Jeremiah 12:4)

Encouraging Words for Trying Times

They’re finally easing the rules, but in some ways it’s even more aggravating than before. Some are still waiting for their unemployment to be approved. Waiting in line just to get into the store only to find there are still shortages of some items and prices are rising on others. Sometimes we find ourselves wondering when this will ever truly end!

The first century church was facing bigger trials than we’re seeing today. Oppression, poverty and persecution by the Romans with no end in sight.

The Apostle Peter reminded the believers about the purpose of such trials, “In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” (1st Peter 1:6-7)

We can see that we still have a way to go before life is back to normal, but we should remember that these are the kind of trials that will prove our faith and relationship with God.

News Release SOCIAL SECURITY

New Guidance about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Beneficiaries from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul.

“The Treasury Department launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments for eligible individuals who do not normally file a tax return, and also announced that it would begin making automatic payments.  However, for some people receiving benefits from the Social Security Administration–specifically those who have dependent children under the age of 17–it is to their advantage to go to this portal to ensure they also get the $500 per dependent Economic Impact Payment.  I encourage them to do this as soon as possible, and want to provide the following details:

Devotional

The Apostle Paul spent some time “social distancing” in a cold and damp prison, yet he kept a joyful and hopeful attitude!

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!…

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:4-8)

Don’t worry about anything, pray about everything and be thankful for the things we have, we’ll get through it!
