Advent Lutheran Final Worship
Advent Lutheran Church, residing at the corner of McCord Road and Sylvania Avenue, in Sylvania,Ohio, will be celebrating the life of Advent at its final worship service on August 30, 2015. The Church was formed in August 1963 and held its first worship service in November 1963 at McCord Junior High School. The church then moved into its current residence and held its first worship service in that building in 1966. Many additions and changes occurred over the years. The church has been active in many out-reach activities, blood drives, housed a Boy Scout troop, offered space to AA groups, TOPS groups, rummage sales, quilting for the homeless, knitting for charities, bake sales, voting precincts, dinners, and various fund raising activities. Advent celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2014.
The building and the property were sold in October 2014 and the Congregation voted on the distribution of the proceeds from the sale. Various local charities have been chosen to receive a portion of these proceeds and Advent is proud to help those in need. Advent Lutheran Church would like to thank the people who participated in the 51 years of life of our church.
