Grief Share Worshop at Compelled Church
It’s a beautiful time of the year: our world around is changing with the vivid colors of fall and the cool, crisp temperatures that give way. With all the changes that the end of October brings upon us, we find ourselves in what I refer to as a different “life mode”. We enter season that embraces and celebrates the family more than any other time of the year. This season can be a wonderful time, as we traditionally celebrate the harvest with gratitude during Thanksgiving. Then, an already busy and fast-paced life seems to accelerate to an even faster speed all the way into the beginning of January.
Many people, however, find themselves in the midst of the most difficult time of the year. With all the family memories, traditions and celebrations, they are left being reminded of such a great feeling of loss and grief. Their family celebrations look completely different to them, and they cannot recreate the way “things used to be”. To be honest, many people are dreading this upcoming holiday season because they have lost someone very close to them, and the absence of their loved one is more pain than they wish to bear.
Maybe you have lost a loved one just this year. Or, maybe it’s been 2, 5 or even 15 years since your life changed with the death of a close family member. If this is your story, there is hope available to you.
From the makers of Grief Share, there is a 2 hour workshop called “Surviving the Holidays” that will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 2:30-4:30pm at Compelled Church, address in Bedford Township.
CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL & BAKE SALE
Zion Lutheran Church 8307 Memorial Hwy. “TRUNK OR TREAT” AT PILGRIM CHURCH
Pilgrim Church located at 1375 Sylvania Avenue in Toledo will host a TRUNK OR TREAT event on Friday October 30 from 6p-8p. This outreach event is a safe way for children in our community (up to age 12) to enjoy and celebrate Halloween. There will be food, door prizes, a craft, games, face painting, a short, inspirational message and of course, people decorating and opening their trunks to pass out candy.

Winter Clothing and Bake Sale

Faith Community United Church of Christ is holding a Winter Clothing and Bake Sale on Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 1126 Anderson Avenue, Maumee, Ohio. Stop by to find winter clothing in all sizes for men, women and children, plus an added feature of the sale is a large collection of Holiday Decorations. This is a great opportunity to get an early start on the season. In conjunction with it is the famous annual bake sale of great homemade treats from the kitchens of Faith Community’s faithful cooks. Come early for the best selection. There will also be a 50/50 raffle conducted throughout the day with drawing at the close of the sale. You need not be present to win.
Transform Toledo For Christ, Oct. 24th
In 1620 the Plymouth Company sent the “Pilgrims” who built a new nation. 400 years later a new “company” of Godly leaders is emerging to transform politics, business, education, medicine, media, church and family.
America today is facing five main problem areas that the church must address more effectively: sins/demons, ignorance/error, corruption/poverty, injustice/tyranny, and disease/division. Progress in addressing each of these are true “signs” of success in Jesus’ command to disciple nations (Mt 28; Mk 16). Continue reading
TOPS (Take Off Pound Sensibly)
We have three Chapters of TOPS (Take Off Pound Sensibly) that meet at different days and times at King Of Glory Lutheran Church, 6517 Brint Rd., Sylvania. We have two groups that meet on Monday. Chapter 1672 meets at 9am. and Chapter 640 meets at 6:30 pm. Chapter 1961 meets on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. We are a non-profit organization and not church affiliated. We are an affordable weight loss support group that meets once a week. You may call 419-841-6436 for more information.
