Thank YOU for Your Time

Welcome to another beautiful day in the neighborhood. It’s beautiful because you’re my neighbor and you’re part of it.

On this Memorial Day it is good to not only remember those who died in service but all those who touched our lives. I remember hearing about my dad’s youngest brother. He was killed in WWII; I remember my mom & dad and my wife Barb and all they gave me and did for me. What will people remember about me? What will people remember about you?

Over the phone, his mother told him, “Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday.” Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

“Jack, did you hear me?”

“Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It’s been so long since I thought of him. I’m sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,” Jack said..

Encouraging Words For Trying Times

When things are going smoothly we sometimes forget about talking with God. After all, why do we need His help when we have all we need? Nice house, stylish cars, high paying jobs…life is good!

But when a crisis comes we call out for help and we’re not sure he hears us!

The Bible tells us that God does talk to us. He may not speak to us through the same clear voice that Moses and the patriarchs of the Old Testament heard. He may not speak to us through visions as he did with the Old Testament prophets.

Prayer tonight at 7pm

Toledo Prays will gather the community of Greater Toledo on the National Day of Prayer, May 7, at Cornerstone Church to pray God’s Glory Across the Earth lifting up families, schools, government, military, businesses, media, the Church.  The prayers will revolve around the points from the national theme from Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”  We are also adding a category of prayer focus, First responders/Medical personnel, given the immediate need to lift up these civil servants during this national crisis.

Encouraging Words for Trying Times

We find ourselves asking ‘how long’ these days. “How long’ do I have to hold for customer service? ‘How long’ do I have to wait before I can enter the store? ‘How long’ will I have to home school my kids? ‘How long’ till life is back to normal?

Jeremiah the prophet asked ‘how long’ when the children of Israel suffered, “How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.” (Jeremiah 12:4)

Encouraging Words for Trying Times

They’re finally easing the rules, but in some ways it’s even more aggravating than before. Some are still waiting for their unemployment to be approved. Waiting in line just to get into the store only to find there are still shortages of some items and prices are rising on others. Sometimes we find ourselves wondering when this will ever truly end!

The first century church was facing bigger trials than we’re seeing today. Oppression, poverty and persecution by the Romans with no end in sight.

The Apostle Peter reminded the believers about the purpose of such trials, “In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” (1st Peter 1:6-7)

We can see that we still have a way to go before life is back to normal, but we should remember that these are the kind of trials that will prove our faith and relationship with God.

Encouraging Words for These Trying Times

We’re finally hearing that some are heading back to work soon!

Life won’t be exactly back to normal, but at least we’re starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel! We’re starting to head in the right direction with hope that things will get better through the spring and into the summer.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (Romans 12:12 ESV)

Patience, hope and prayer are a powerful combination in trying times.

Flanders Rd Church of Christ

Church Service at Tom Ahl Chrysler, Lima Ohio

3 churches are going together to have Sunday morning service on the Tom Ahl Chrysler parking lot in Lima Ohio on Sunday, May 3rd at 10:30am. Enjoy services from your car and be Blessed. Bring someone who isn’t saved and pray that the Holy Spirit will move! Have you heard the story of the 91st Brigade of WWI? They recited the 91st Psalm every morning and were involved in 3 of the bloodiest battles of the war. While brigades on both sides experienced up to 90% casualties, the 91st didn’t have a single wartime casualty. God is amazing if we put our trust in Him. So in these challenging times, put on the full armor of God, read the 91st Psalm and Be Blessed!

SOCIAL SECURITY

Update on Social Security Offices from Andrew Saul, Commissioner of Social Security

“Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again.  We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation.  In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.
