Heartbeat LogoYour First Look East Toledo Women’s Center will hold an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, March 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is located at 101 Main Street, Suite 4, in the historic Weber Block Building. Tours will be available and light refreshments will be served. Parking is available at the rear of the building.

Toledo City Councilman Michael Craig will be among the speakers at the Open House. Also presenting will be Heartbeat of Toledo Board President Cari Jennings and Executive Director Patricia Todak, and Joan Durgin of Polly Fox Academy.

A client who has used the services of Heartbeat’s Your First Look Women’s Center and their Heart to Heart Prenatal and Parent Learning Program will also share her story.

Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the new East Toledo office offers free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and options counseling, as well as prenatal and parenting classes and emergency help for moms, dads, and babies in need. All of the services offered by Your First Look East Toledo are free and confidential. Additionally, those who complete any classes or programs will earn points which can be used to get free baby items.

“Heartbeat of Toledo has been helping new and expectant moms, dads, and babies since 1971,” Mrs. Todak explains. “We opened our first Your First Look Women’s Center (at 4041 W. Sylvania Ave.) in 2011 when we first started offering limited obstetrical ultrasound services. Your First Look focuses on women who are facing unplanned pregnancies while Heartbeat and our Heart to Heart Parenting Center focuses on women who plan to parent and families needing help. We decided to separate the two services because we wanted the women who were in crisis to have a calm and relaxing atmosphere where they can peacefully explore their options.”

“The Heartbeat board decided to open this East Toledo office because we know that the area has a large percentage of single moms as well as a high rate of teen pregnancies,” adds Mrs. Jennings. “We feel a strong commitment to East Toledo and want to be close by where we can help.”

The East Toledo Women’s Center joins Your First Look’s other location at 4041 W. Sylvania Ave., Suite LL5, across from Franklin Park Mall.
